Early Detection/Rapid Response (ED/RR) of emerging invasive species is an efficient and effective strategy to protect our natural areas. To be successful, ED/RR requires cooperative efforts among land stewards across the area.
If you are in the Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Somerset and Union Counties of New Jersey, we welcome you to join our efforts. Friends of Hopewell Valley Open Space and the Upper Raritan Watershed Association maintain databases of our field surveys. You can submit your field survey data to the databases.
If you are outside our project area, please contact us to learn more about establishing ED/RR in your area.
Land managers who are interested in using Early Detection/Rapid Response methodology in their area can find reference material on this page.
The Data Collection Sheet is where data is entered while surveying. The data sheet has fields for target species observed, population size, habitat type and eradication method. The Raw Data Entry Sheet gives instructions on submitting survey and eradication data to Upper Raritan Watershed Association (URWA).
The remaining files provide information on fruiting and flowering times of invasive species and control methods.
